Just a few significant projects. Many more not listed.

Old & New Top 40 Dance

My latest and current endeavor. We are presently rehearsing for our first upcoming show, in May of 2023. This is a 5 piece band, consisting of 4 well-seasoned musicians, along side an extremely talented young female vocalist, doing everything from Aretha Franklin to Amy Winehouse to Fleetwood Mac. This is destined to be a fun project, with a high quality sound!

The next faze

Old & New R&B Funk n' Soul

A fun, energetic, funky band that covered a wide variety of dance grooves, both old school and new. Our wide variety of musical backgrounds, allowed us to play just about anything we chose to. And our impact on the local music scene has resulted in many request for us to get together for reunion gigs, 2 of which we've done.

The Rockin' Jukes

The Blues

4 piece band, that played classic and progressive blues. Formed by guitarist, Gary Tada, we went through numerous member configurations, before one day, playing a gig with this one. And all of us to a person, immediately realized and commented afterwards, that this was the configuration we needed to stick with. Probably our biggest performance was at the Ogden Music Festival, sharing the stage with the likes of Booker T. Jones (of MG's fame).

Body Talk

R&B Funk n' Soul

Certainly the funkiest band I've been in, to date! We played mostly Old School R&B Funk covers, with a few originals mixed in. And the few songs we covered that weren't considered Funk, were quite funky by the time we got through with them! We played for a lot of big event around the area, including a World Cup ski event, in Park City, Ut.

Triple Threat

The Blues

We were a power trio, covering energetic classic blues. Our formation was the result of being put on stage together at a local Blues Jam. After playing our 4-5 songs, our natural chemistry was obvious enough, that we immediately planned on getting together to do some shows. We were know for putting out a very "fat" sound, with having only 3 instruments.

Fever

Disco, Old School R&B Funk 'n Soul

This band was originally 7-piece, formed by a local booking agent, looking to take advantage of the 90's resurgence of 70's Disco. We leaned more towards the funkier Disco covers, as well as funky songs that weren't necessarily considered Disco. We played for lots of festivals, and a few of local conventions.

Second Nature

Dance Variety

After moving to Salt Lake, I met Danica Bird at a party, doing karaoke. We quickly grew very close, with a brother/sister relationship. Musically starting off recording original material, we eventually succumbed to the urge to perform live. As with my solo act, we incorporated the use of instrument tracks, with me playing guitar/bass, and both of us singing. We did a pretty wide variety of dance-oriented songs.

Kent & Jim show

Classic Rock

Kent Thompson, surely one of the most talented musicians I've played with to date, asked me to form an unusual duo (bass & guitar) with him, looking to expand his solo show. With my funk background and other factors, I can play a very "percussive" style of bass. And Kent fashioned his guitar parts around that, in a way that allowed us to create very rhythmic grooves, without a drummer. We played primarily 70's & 80's Classic Rock covers.

Powerhouse

R&B Funk n' Soul

This was the first band that I took a leadership roll with. Formed by me and our Tenor saxophonist, Carl "Cincinnati" Durgan, we became known as one of the top funk n' soul bands in the central Illinois area. We did music of the times (70's & 80's), as well as original material. And we eventually recorded 2 of my compositions, and released a 45 record.

Mod Mixture

R&B Funk n' Soul

At the age of 18, this was the first "great" band I played with. Made up mostly of musicians older than me, they were greatly admired by me and other young musician around my home town, Danville, Illinois. So it was an amazing honor for me, when they brought me on board. We did 70's & 80's Funk & Soul. I've always considered this stint as my music career "kick-off". And to this day, I still feel a high level of gratitude to those guys for that opportunity.
